The 145th Engineer Combat Battalion was formed from the 2nd Battalion of the 35th Engineer Regiment. The 35th Engineers were one of several Engineer Regiments tasked with building the Alaska Highway in 1942 and 1943 to provide a land route to Alaska.
During that period, Capt. John F. McGaughey captured some of the activities and scenery using his home movie camera. These have been converted into videos and edited into segments on specific topics, as shown in the list below.
Although the quality of the movies is often relatively poor, these videos show a bit of what it was like during construction of the Alaska Highway. Click on the thumbnail image to see the video.
